Description

This object is a spiral galaxy located 230 million light years away in the constellation of Lyra at a declination of +43 degrees. The galaxy width in our apparent view is 1.8 arc-minutes, which corresponds to a Milky Way size diameter of 120,000 light years.

The 12th magnitude galaxy has a rough grand design spiral structure, with arms that extend around for almost 540 degrees.  The disk looks disturbed to some extent but I don’t see any nearby culprits.  The galaxy core appears to be offset slightly to the lower right.
